I have the same problem.
Merchant Center says: missing Product Description and missing immage.
I have saved an Image for every Product Variation. But I don’t want to copy paste the text vor every product variation – I want to use description of the main product information.
I have a suggestion for the Problem of duplicationg tag information:
why not use automatic Product Titel + Color?
